About Us

Our Story

Hello! My name is Catherine Twigg and I am the owner, founder, and, I suppose you could say, the lantern home designer here at Spirited Lanterns!

The idea sparked a few years ago when my family decided to do a Homemade Christmas. I was seeking inspiration online and liked the idea of fairy houses made from wine bottles. However I wondered, how could I make them more festive? Some form of a Christmas Village? Or gingerbread men are adorable and fit the season - How about a gingerbread house?!

While the first lantern was made for my sister, I loved it so much that I ended up making a full Christmas Village for the mantle over my fireplace from recycled spirits bottles (see photo below). I had no idea others would find my creations so enjoyable until I began receiving requests, which was both a surprise and delight!

Fast forward to last year, I stumbled upon a competition looking to help someone chasing a dream. I've always said that if I could create a career from crafting, that would be the dream! I decided to put myself out there, and I entered. While I did not win the grand prize, I was in the Top 10 nationwide! Even just being a finalist was incredibly validating, so I decided to move forward and establish Spirited Lanterns!

Overview

Making an Impact

Our main goal is to keep bottles out of landfills and to light up lives along the way. It is our hope to create a lasting impact through recycling, charitable donations, and yes, a bit of glitter!

We create festive lanterns from these recycled bottles and donate a portion of each sale towards local charities. The gingerbread houses were our first collection and we are adding themes as we grow.
